About us
The Keep Them Safe Foundation’s primary goal is to create an environment where all children are safe and healthy. We seek to improve the lives of all children via resources provided to educators, literature, live presentations and distribution of safety devices to families in need.
The Keep Them Safe Foundation brings top of the line, child friendly presentations on fire safety and other topics to children all across America. All our presentations are carefully constructed by master educators and child psychologists, as well as fire safety specialists from various fire departments. The classes are available in multiple languages, are tailor made for every age group and every schools individuals need. The curriculum is based on much research to ensure maximum student retention. Our most unique attribute is that we give the classes’ small groups in a classroom setting. A definitive study commissioned by the US Department of Education analyzed at the achievement levels of students in 2,561 schools across the nation, as measured by their performance on the national NAEP exams. After controlling for student background, the only objective factor found to be correlated with higher student success as measured by test scores was class size –not school size, not teacher qualifications, nor any other variable that could be identified. The children learn crucial information that can help them avoid injury or death while going about their daily routine as well as help prevent fires in their homes.
About the presentation
The Safety Presentation consists of:
- A teacher's guide with lesson plans plus activities and games for the children to work on to further their knowledge after our presentation.
- Access to a website that the children can use to improve their preparation and response skills after our presentation.
- A short video starring children learning safety rules in their own community is shown to the class before the presentation.
- An authentic firefighter gives the class – with the help of a completely interactive robot named Freddie the Fire truck. Freddie is controlled by a children's comedian who accompanies the firefighter to every class. Having Freddie there has been proven to greatly increases the children's retention.
- The children learn important safety rules and tips, as well as practice many escape tactics during the presentation.
- At the end of every class, a picture is taken with the fire fighter and Freddie the fire truck. The pictures are available to order by the parents on our website, or if they do not have access to the internet we will mail out the pictures and a certificate to every child's home.
